The Music Box – A Poem

The Music Box

By N. M. Sirett ©

We are organic creatures.

Not permanent at all.

Our conditions are not stable.

The writing’s on the wall.

And still, we take for granted

The time we have on Earth.

So much of it is wasted

Since the moment of our birth.

The music box inside you

Plays a weary song.

So turn the key and wind it up,

For life is not that long.

This is lovely and a great reminder that life is so short. Love the music box analogy. The line about us not being permanent really made me think.
